I revisited Paulo Coelho (Read original piece here) great story about the Pencil. The story touches on the characteristics of the Pencil and how it relates to real life situations. I thought to share it as a reminder about life.
Enjoy the read.
The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting it into the box.
“There are five things you need to know.” He told the pencil.
“Before I send you out into the world; always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.”
One: “You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someone’s hand.”
Two: “I sharpen you from time to time.” You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you’ll need it to become a better pencil / person.
Three: “With the Eraser, I can erase any mistakes I make with the pencil.” Therefore, in life you will make mistakes and have the ability to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: “The most important part of you will always be what’s inside.” Always pay attention to your abilities.
Five: “The pencil leaves a mark on every surface.” Therefore, be aware that everything you do in life, will leave a trace of you. Be careful how you live your life. Let it be that the marks you leave on every surface you walk on are good marks. No matter what the condition is, you must continue to write.
The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.
Now placing you in the position of the pencil; always remember this and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.
One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God’s hand. Allow other people to guide you in life. Learn from others. This will enable you put your potentials into maximum use.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time. The many problems and challenges you will experience in life will make you become a stronger and better person.
Three: With the use of the Eraser, you should be able to reflect on your mistakes and make amends. It is important to erase and correct any mistakes you make.
Four: Pay utmost attention to what you are emitting from your heart. The most important part of you will always be what’s on the inside.
Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation might be, you must do something in life. Be conscious of the actions you take.
I hope you will be encouraged with this story of the pencil and realise that you are a unique person. You are the only one that can make your life happen as you want it. You are the only one that can fulfil the purpose for which you have been created.
You are born to accomplish your purpose. Don’t be discouraged by what life is throwing at you. Don’t think that you can never make a change or a difference.
We are nothing but pencils in the hands of the Creator.
Peace and Love!
