Daily Prompt – Saturday Night!

Today’s Daily Prompt – Saturday Night is my Friday Giggles.

What’s your favourite way to spend Saturday night?

I have no particular way of spending my Saturdays whether day or night. Sometimes, my Saturdays are busy and other times, there are lazy Saturdays. Sometimes I go to the movies, or take a long walk. Other times, I read or take a good rest. It all depends on the schedule for the day.  At least, I must cook and eat. And do all the other common daily rituals.

However, tomorrow, is going to be a different Saturday because I am expecting a guest. Yeah! I’m happy. I’ve been grinning from ear to ear, bursting into songs at intervals just to celebrate my feelings. I usually sing in the shower and my mood depicts the kind of song that stroll into my heart.  So, this morning, I sang away as if I was rehearsing for a music contest.

It so happened that a good friend of mine, one of my besties is visiting me. She is that type of friends you could call a sister. She is an amazing person with a kind heart. But this alone, is not the main reason for my cheery mood.  No.  Something else has triggered my happy frequency.  Rose, as she is fondly called, is bringing me a whole lot of ‘home’ delicacies. Hmmn! Now you know why my face appear so bright even as I tap my fingers away on this Laptop.

Rose has been my childhood friend and lives in London. This will be her second visit to my abode and I always loved to have her around. She is a very unique being, full of life and very intelligent.

To cut a long story short, Rose travelled to Nigeria to spend the Christmas and had only just returned to the UK last week.  What this means is that I am going to enjoy some home food. I am going to have some soup ingredients like Egusi, Ogbono, Dried Fish, Cray-Fish and some dried spices. I can’t wait to make us some delicious Egusi Soup which will be eaten with Semolina or pounded yam. I guess some extra carb intake won’t kill a soul instantly. I could also make us my favourite soup called Nsala Soup, known in English as Pepper-Soup.

Thinking about these home dishes which my taste bud has grown to love over the years makes me really happy.  So, I am expecting it to be a fun Saturday with so much to talk about. You know how it is when you have visitors and guests especially those special friends.  It will be all talk, talk, talk and laughter. For this reason, I am activating my ‘listening’ frequency.  I know the stories will start trickling down as soon as I pick her up from the Train Station tomorrow afternoon.  Wait a minute!

More stories later! Right now, I need to tidy up a few things… you know what I mean, don’t you? I need to do some quick cleaning in here. Haha!

Peace and Love!

    1. Thank you so very much, Charlie! I am sure Rose and I will have a good time. You already have an idea of what Pepper soup is because it’s best eaten during cold weather. The soup is prepared with fish or meat, spicy and as the name implies, Chilli or pepper is added for flavour. It’s such a good therapy this winter. You gladdened my heart this night by your kind comment. I sincerely appreciate that you visited my blog. Thank you. 🙂
