Drawing a Blank – Daily Prompt!

Daily Prompt – Drawing a Blank. When was the last time you walked away from a discussion, only to think of The Perfect Comeback hours later? Recreate the scene for us, and use your winning line.

I don’t engage much in talks when I am aggrieved. This is simply because words spoken out in anger cannot be retracted, just like the passage of time that you cannot retrieve. So I like to warn myself to behave and stay cool during arguments.

Suffice it to say that for today’s prompt, I am going to go lazy with it and tackle it in a simple way. Drawing my response from quotes.

Of course, there are moments in my life, when I fume with rage. But I always retrace my steps, sleep and ponder over the matter and wake up with a new attitude and mindset.

It is better on the long run because it is difficult to recall a misguided tongue.

Peace and Love!

  1. This is something to keep true. There have been times I spoke words in anger that I eventually regretted. I have since learned to control my tongue. I can attest to the truth of that statement.

    1. Likewise! If only we all will learn to keep calm during situations, the world will be a better place. But this is easier said than done. There is always the urge to give back harsh words which only destroy at the end. Thanks Dear Rose for your comments always. I appreciate you. 🙂

  2. This is a powerful prompt. It gives you the opportunity to approach a past, heated conversation differently. It may not change the repercussions of it, but this exercise may help prevent future heartbreak and/or regret.

  3. The tongue is the hardest muscle in our bodies to control. Some days, I wish I had that dang zipper for my mouth. Generally, I am not a nasty person, but being female, I think an alien invades me from time to time. Good reminders, powerful prompt.

    1. Lol. I get your drift. So easy to run the mouth carelessly sometimes… I guess most of us are guilty. There is need to be careful with our utterances. Thanks for the read and for leaving a powerful comment. Love it – “The tongue is the hardest muscle in our bodies to control”. 🙂
