The prayer of Jabez:

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” – 1 Chronicles 4:10

“I got up early one morning

And rushed right into the day;

I had so much to accomplish

That I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,

And heavier came each task;

‘Why doesn’t God help me?’ I wondered.

He answered, ‘You didn’t ask.’

I wanted to see joy and beauty

But the day toiled on gray and bleak

I wondered why God didn’t show me

He said, ‘But you didn’t seek’,

I tried to come into God’s presence;

I used all my keys in the lock.

God gently and lovingly chided,

‘My child, you didn’t knock.’

I woke up early this morning,

And paused before entering the day;

I had so much to accomplish

That I had to take time to pray.”

No one ever has it better, the struggle of life continues.

As the path of life unwinds some of us will find wonders and fears, labours of love and a few falling Tears. Then across the years, there will be some twist and turns, mistakes to make, and lessons to learn. BUT through it all, let us always remember that each one of these situation’s is but a stepping stone… to our greatness.

I pray that you and I will be able to cross these BRIDGE’S when we get there. Therefore, let’s carry everything about us to HIM in Prayers and supplications.

Amen… !!!!

Peace and Love!

  1. Oh honey, this is SO Marvelous!! Great wisdom (I too forget to pray some days–yikes!), and great passage about Jabez! As a chronic pain sufferer, I appreciate his prayer to be freed from his. Though, I’ve learned much about pain and difficulties (depression and circumstances)–and often I tell Him that I realize I would not lean into Him so closely if everything in my life was roses! You know you’re “getting it” (maturing) when you can thank Him for anything that brings you into a deeper intimacy with Him–even the yucky things 🙂

    1. Absolutely correct – we tend to lean towards HIM more when we are in desperate need of HIS mercies and help in our lives. Life happens and the ‘ugly and sad’ experiences bring us down on our knees. I too, have been through life’s unexpected twists and blows and hard as it seemed, peace and solace came through prayers. We sometimes slack in getting it right with God but on the long run, HE is our only true anchor. So, like you, YES to prayers! 🙂
