Devotional Nuggets – #30

Hello Friends,

How was your weekend? Did you have a good time? Did you enjoy it? Well, that is all in the past now. Whatever it was belong to yesterday. So, let’s look forward and believe the next weekend will be a better one.

It’s been drizzling here today and I really like the chilly feel ‘cos it’s been very hot this past week that some people were almost going about naked. Yeah, the things that happen in the summertimes…!

Let’s hear the nuggets for today and I hope you will see meaning in them.

Today, as you live for Christ alone and not for the flesh, you’ll meet people who will wonder why you are so different. These people will then slightly or significantly turn on you and pretty much condemn your lifestyle and say “why can’t you just be like everyone else”. You’ll be dumbfounded by their words and at the same time you’ll have an internal smirk because they see Jesus in you and that is the best thing they can ever see in you. Through it all, don’t be swayed by their twisted flattering words, rather remain rooted in what pleases the Lord than them.

God will be the shelter in your storm, the light in your valley, and the compass for every journey you go on. When life feels like it might fall apart, He will help you keep it together. When circumstances make you feel stuck, He will help you find a way out. When your heart feels broken and your future seems hopeless, He will heal it and give you a brand new hope. There is nothing in this world that He will not walk you through.

Are you feeling unhappy, sad or depressed as we enter this new week?

Take a step back . You are ultimately the sole creator of your own feelings. When negative thoughts arise based on past experiences or future worries, as they sometimes will, realize that these are simply issues your mind (not you) is working through. Pause, be present and pay close attention. Think about these thoughts and emotions consciously, almost as if you were a bystander looking in. Separate yourself from your mind’s thinking.

Today, look up with hope in your eyes. Look up and see that there’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them. It’s the little things in life and life around us that should be appreciated. Be present with yourself and in your immediate surroundings.

Lift up those eyes again and this time, unto the living God. Make Him your friend and you will smile big for it.

Good Morning! Here’s wishing you a blessed week.

Peace and Love!
