Are You A True Friend?

I need that one special friend. Just that one special person who will be true and honest. Just that one person who will love honestly and sincerely. I need just one special friend who will not turn out a traitor or kill me with jealousy and envy. Just that one person who will tell me the truth even when it is bitter. One person who will say hey Stella… Yes Dear, tell it to me and mean it even if it means hurting me because you spoke the truth. Yes, that one person who I can trust without batting an eyelid.

Are you in this category? Are you one of those people who is not envious of your friend’s successes? Are you one of those people who does not think evil of your single friends that they would snatch your husband or boyfriends or wife and girlfriends?? Are you one of those people who would appear friendly but do not hesitate to slander your friends at their back? Are you one of those friends who will borrow money from your friend and wouldn’t want to pay back? And even when reminded to pay up your debt, you start a war? Are you one of those friends who keep whining and blaming God why he did not give you the ‘goodies’ your friend has – i.e. reminding God that you are the one he should have blessed more than your friend? That you are the right candidate he should have poured all those blessings on instead of your friend?

Are you one of those friends who is driven by ego and pride and wouldn’t even consider helping those you call your friends? Are you one of those friends who is rich and progressing well, yet wouldn’t want to help those your friends who are still struggling to have a foothold in life? Are you one of those friends who like to use your friends, have them run errands for you but would not do anything to bless their lives? Are you one of those friends who only like to receive from others but will never extend a hand too?

Are you honest and sincere and not a backstabber and traitor?

Are you one of those friends who is scared that your single friends will snatch your husband or wife? Are you one of those friends who will never tell a friend the secret behind their ‘good fortune’ (pimple free face, well-tailored outfit, vital and viable information that would help them grow… etcetera, pls fill in the gap here)?

Now search your mind – Are you a true friend to your friends and not just a cosmetic friend who hide under makeovers, wearing camouflages like the chameleon? Are you wearing a friendly guise but with deep seated hatred for your friend?

If you are that one person who is a true friend, whose affection is true and sincere and can stand the test of time, then this is for you. Keep being who you are. Never feel bothered that the much you give in friendship is not reciprocated. Be yourself, keep being you. None of those godly characters and attributes you exhibit is unnoticed. I tell you, you emit goodness more than you know and that is enough. Your reward will surely come in great abundance.

And if you are that one special friend, honest, true and sincere, who is not eaten up with deceit and lies, someone I could trust and share a deep understanding with, who will bring the gift of laughter to my heart and have no fear of crying on my shoulders too, then you are the person I am looking for to be in many of my best memories of life and existence.

Are you that one special friend?

Peace and Love!

  1. I have never had close friends except for my husband so I am not sure I am good friend material. I wouldn’t be suspicious of my friends and think that they would snatch my husband away. Other than that I am not sure.

    1. Thank you Susie for your honest feedback. At least you said something that I loved – that you wouldn’t be suspicious of your friend snatching your husband if you truly accept them as friends. Not many women can say that. A lot live in fear… Thank you for reading. Much appreciated. 🙂

  2. Yes 😊😄 And I have lots of good friends and list of my friendships last a lifetime. I still chat with friends whom I met in the 80s. Not even distance takes away my friendships. I have lost a few friends along the way, too. I guess we also grow each other out but I have more long lasting friends than those that fade away for no reason. Then, I have 2 very close friends I lost because they misunderstood my concern and they decided to leave. I’m cool with it and I never have anything bad to say about them.
But, if you make me your enemy? I’m as bad an enemy as I’m good as a friend. Haha.

    1. You just wrote about me here… Almost same facts in my own case. I am a very loyal friend and a very loyal enemy. I will never hurt a friend deliberately. I have so much compassion and empathy and these are innate attributes. However, like you said, some friends choose to walk away for reasons best known to them while the rest who understands the worth of true friendship stay come what may. I have childhood friends that are still very very close today. One thing is certain, I give what I expect in a friendship, loyalty, respect, sincere affection (love) and attention. I create time for my real friends by staying in touch no matter the distance and I will never betray anyone. Dear Anne, I appreciate that you took the time to leave me a comment. Thanks so much and blessings to you. 🙂

  3. I am a keeper. Even when am betrayed, not once but repeatedly. I know what a true friend means. Am glad I have a couple of real friends and am too a good friend for many. The jealous factor in any sense never hit me 😉
