The Daily Prompt – Detonate!

I sit here at a corner as I watch people

Moving about in different gaits

I am nervous and scared

I have begun to dread travelling

Even though I am a wanderlust

Who hop on the next available flight

With the slightest gift of a vacation

But today I sit here locked inside my thoughts

Scared of the apparitions before me

Everything appears like danger

Self-destructing humans care less

As I run my fingers over my head

Shifting my gaze from him to her

Explosions happen swiftly

And I wondered what’s in that huge bag across the counter

My mind is ticking like a time bomb

Every heartbeat feels like the last beat

And I wonder if a bomb will detonate

  1. Self destructing humans care less- I loved this line. This was a very creative and amazingly penned poetry. Loved reading it

  2. In a world where news of terrorist attacks are all over the airwaves, certainly the word “detonate ” has assumed an urgent meaning and your post humanized the hidden feelings. Thank you.
