The Words We Speak…

I was with Serena on Monday and while she was talking I could not help but keep staring at her.
Even though she’s a fast talker, trust me her words are filled with so much wisdom.

Suddenly I interrupted her.
“Wait,” I said and she paused.
“Do you know what am thinking?” I asked and she replied. “No.”
“You talk too much,” I told her and she could not help but laugh out loud.

Okay after a while, it was my turn to talk. And I started talking…
I was sharing with her certain things and suddenly she interrupted.
The human in me paused and I fixed my gaze on her waiting.
“Do you know what I’m thinking?” She asked and the Solomon in me could not even decipher why.
“No,” I replied.
“You talk too much.” She said, throwing my very own words back at me.
This time it was my turn to laugh out loud.
Only then did I realise how insulting the words were and how it felt.

Wow! What an intelligent woman!
She just pointed out my use of words and taught me with fewer words, the reverse law.

Probably I was trying to pass the right message but with the wrong words.

Sometimes we say things carelessly without even realizing the message we’re passing.

Words are very powerful.
They’re either delivering the right message or the wrong message.
How you present them matters a lot.
If you wish to know how it feels like, place yourself in the receiver’s shoes.

Assuming your words are being thrown back at you, how would you react.

Opportunities can be lost as a result of the wrong words.

While trying to build ourselves daily, let’s not exclude our words.
Delivery is very crucial.
The words you use, matters a lot.

PS:  This piece was written by a budding Entrepreneur and a talented visionary coach, Rachel Lucky. It’s always very refreshing to watch and listen to her do her presentations in youth seminars.  I hope you enjoyed reading this post.

Thank you.

Peace and Love!
