The Daily Prompt – Toothbrush!

Dear Future Husband,

There are some things I would like you to know before you contemplate having me as your future wife. I know that before I consent into this lifetime partnership with you, I would have loved you very deeply. Your presence would have made me quiver and my heart flutters just by hearing your voice. I would have considered you a friend, a lover and someone I wouldn’t want out of my sight.

I would have seen you as someone I could rely on. Someone I could trust without any reservations. A true friend, a confidant, a lover and above all, a man with an open mind. A liberal whose intellectual prowess will stimulate and guide me until I get to the pinnacle of my passion and career path.  The bottom-line is that you might contribute to my development in some ways just as there is every likelihood that I will also contribute towards your career goals in life. I hope that we will both help each other to nurture our dreams, for our personal and collective advancement.

Further, you are aware that every relationship faces challenges. It is a reality that no marriage thrive without squabbles and quarrels. Therefore, while we both understand that living together can bring about some frictions due to the individual lifestyles we have adopted, these unpleasant situations can be nipped in the bud with clarity, just as this cliché buttresses it – to be forewarned is to be forearmed.  I could be a little eccentric with some things.

In addition, as we begin our journey under the same roof, as man and wife, there are two things I’d like you to know about.

One of them is that I spend a long time in the bathroom. What do I do there you may ask? Well, nothing more than the ordinary. Just that the bathroom has since become a relaxation unit of the house for me. It may interest you to know that ideas pop into my head as soon as I step in there to do the needful. Therefore, I always leave a pen and jotter where I scribble down notes as these pressing thoughts spring up within me. My phone always comes to the rescue too as it’s become a reliable companion that follows me everywhere. Yeah, that explains why you might have to scream at me to hurry up sometimes. Lol.

The other thing you should know is my sentiments about toothbrushes. Yes, Dear, we can share everything together. We can eat from the same plate, drink from one cup, use each other’s slippers, robes, et al. But I’d like to emphasise here that I cherish having my own toothbrush. In essence, that is one thing I do not share with anyone. And I do not intend to share that with you even though you are my significant other. I use my toothbrushes alone. And I guess you will cherish having yours to yourself too. 🙂

My Dearest Future Partner, I could really squabble over a mere toothbrush. So, I thought to intimate you of that bizarre part of me before we both sign this piece of paper before us.

From Your Future Wife.

  1. Hi There, Is there a problem with the pingback to the Daily Prompt today? I noticed that no post reflected on the site. Has anyone experienced this also or is a fault from my end? Kindly advise. Thank you. 🙂

    1. Haha. Whether privately or openly, he would have known all of these before we proceed. These little things though… Lol. Yeah, it sulks that pingback is not available today.

  2. The little things really do matter – I can vouch – I went into this marriage thinking we would both compromise and adapt to meet each other. And we did on a lot of things! But not everything 🙂 My toothbrush is still my own, though – thank goodness! I really enjoyed this post – Fun letter to read!

    1. Haha. Yeah, lack of communication on little and sensitive issues lead to poor judgement. And eventually begins to erode the peace in a home. In marriage many things matter… from the much I’ve garnered through reading and real life experiences of others. I’m glad you enjoyed reading my post. I didn’t realise when my initial thoughts of a poem ended up as a letter. Lol. Perhaps, because seeing the prompt, these sentiments about toothbrushes popped up on my head.
