The Daily Prompt – Cherish.

As I got near the house, I perceived the sweet spicy aroma of Ofe Nsala, which is mixed up with the cool evening air. Mama must be busy in the kitchen I told myself.

 

Inside the big parlour, my stomach jumped with excitement with the familiar smell as it dissipates into the crisp air. I breathed in the pleasant scent of uziza leaves and dawa dawa. It was a moment of reality as my face lit up with smiles. I walked closer to the kitchen and just like a mind reader, Mama scooped a small portion of the soup into my washed stretched hands. I savoured the rich taste of crayfish, a major ingredient in this soup as I helped her taste for salt. “I think the salt is just the right amount”. I told Mama.

Christmas Is In The Air!

 

It’s near freezing point here. The trees are bare, shivering in response to the cold air. There is no sight of the angelic whiteness of the snow but I hope it surfaces to bless us with a white Christmas. The cityscape of most cities is agog with sparkling decorations. This Christmas facade has been an age long yearly tradition. And here I am, hitting the keypad and with every stroke of the key, I hum a familiar Christmas melody.

As a writer and blogger, creative writing is important to tell a story better. There is the need to present a story in a compelling and interesting manner to keep the readers or audiences glued to the scene. In non-fictional writings where one needs to retell an incident, it is pertinent to recreate the scenes intensely for the reader.
