I have written some random facts about me in the past. But it’s an inexhaustible list. So here are some more facts to nibble on today.

I am of the school of thought that anything worth doing is worth doing well with a laugh and a smile. I try to approach life and people with that in mind.  When I take stock of my life, I realised a long time that the best thing I can be is kind. Thus, I’m proud of my commitment to kindness. And these days, I do kindness with my common sense unlike before.

I was on the train and keenly watched someone take a selfie. She was busy making different facial expressions as she clicks the camera on her phone. I was enjoying the whole drama with this beautiful selfie-taker. Ah. Ndi selfie addicts! The mass hysteria for selfies shows it’s loved by many people. Until recently, I was not fascinated by selfies. I don’t even remember my phone camera. But all that has changed, now.

The lady was so engrossed with her ‘selfies’ that she didn’t notice my keen interest or perhaps, she didn’t care a hoot who was watching neither was she embarrassed that she was doing all of that in a public place. On the train.

A Beautiful Smile

 

Almost every time I go to this particular eatery, there is this particular girl who always wears a beautiful smile on her face as she attends to customers. Her smile is always so sweet and palpable.  Let’s call her Laura.

Laura’s face is quintessentially the best face to see in the morning as you begin your morning activities because she smiles life into you, literally. Her cheerfulness and the positive energy she exudes is contagious. Laura smiles warmth into you. She smiles confidence into you. She smiles strength into you. She smiles happiness into you.

Leaving Your Comfort Zone…!

 

To leave our comfort zones appears to be a constant thing we are told when things are not working out for us. Why not step out of your familiar terrain? Why not launch yourself out et al. We hear this all the time, and we just nod our heads and say, oh yes, very well indeed. Without an iota of what this portrays or means. I will not elaborate on this scientifically but would tackle it from a lay man’s perspective.

Getting out of existing routines is a big problem because as humans, we are creatures of habit. We follow existing norms and rules, eat the same food, drink the same coffee because we are used to those things. Well, the world is changing fast and clinging to the good old ways, might not be so favourable anymore.

Air Travel: An Agonizing Moment Of Existence!

 

I die every time there is a horrific plane crash.

Air disaster has happened several times in the past. And I have died many times in the past. I die out of shock. Then I inhale life again.

The deep emotional trauma associated with every gruesome crash leaves me questioning the mysterious ways of death. And it takes days to pull me out from the debris of throbbing ache and dismal hope. Life is so transient. Such was my experience at the news broadcast Last Sunday. A plane crash that shattered aspirations in such devastating magnitude. The reports of Sunday’s doomed flight tormented me.

And I broke down in uncontrollable tears.

President Buhari is so alienated from sentient reach by anybody with wise counsel that it is perhaps a wasted effort to try and draw his attention to the lesson in symbolism that President Obama has taught all of us.

Yesterday, President Obama gave one of the most significant speeches of his life – his farewell speech. Sasha Obama, his youngest daughter, was missing in action. Naturally, the Americans needed and wanted to know the whereabouts of the young lady.

Today, I decide on a capitalist lunch alone. My assigned driver takes me to a capitalist restaurant – one of the elitist watering holes of anybody who is anybody in Nigeria’s centre of power.

I invite the driver to come in with me. He is shocked. He is used to waiting in the car. Or being given some change to go and find an appropriate Mama Put for his own lunch while the Ogas eat in the capitalist location.

I am not shocked. I am not surprised either. I am just at a complete loss for words on some of the things I come across on Facebook. My eyes see all kinds even though I ignore them. However, the mind sometimes wanders away to think about trending disparaging and offensive write-ups.
