“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re mis-informed.” ― Mark Twain
The Newspaper!
Years ago, I had an affectionate feel for the Newspaper
The Vendor was a regular face every morning
Dad was addicted to The Observer
It was like prayer to him as he wakes up
I was trapped by The Guardian
The hilarious world of cartoons captivated me
Who cared about the world news?
Those were meant to be read by the menfolk
Not for a girl whose eyes lit up with love stories
According to Romeo and Juliet
Poems, fairy tales of blissful endings
Today the Newspapers
Has been usurped by the internet
Seen only in libraries and public places
Read by the old folks
What a cruel blow
To the journalist and his column
This post is in response to the Daily Prompt – Newspaper.

Thank you! Yes, the electronic media has taken over the print media… conventional newspaper is gradually phasing out with little readership. The effect of technology!

I don’t read the newspaper and I don’t watch the news on television. Everything on them is provided by the corporations that own them and used to manipulate the people. 😀Joe

I agree that today’s newspaper articles can be subjective. Nonetheless, there are still some credible write -ups by a few astute journalists.

Yes, technology is bringing about change… but one thing for sure, it can not erase the memories we hold on to. Nice post, brings back old memories.

Thanks Dearie. They were reflections of a robust newspaper in the days of old before the advent of modern day technology. 🙂

Your post brought back wonderful memories of my father reading the Sunday paper – sections spread all over the dining room table, the scent of the ink and the crisp sound of the paper as pages were turned…Thank you!
