The Daily Post Prompt – Window. Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.
It has become her daily ritual
To watch them play football
As they run about on the field
Chasing the round object
Every day she sits and thinks about him
When he used to be a part of the team
That ran round the field sweating it out
In the name of a football game
Now, memories are left to linger
Fond memories of those wonderful moments
Moments of togetherness, moments of shared love
Moments when life was a splendour
But time changed everything
A sudden shift in the scheme of things
And the inevitable happened
Life became all blue and incomplete
Sitting at that favourite spot again
She recalled looking out of the window that fateful day
And saw a body lie still on the field
While the other boys gathered round the lifeless boy
How heart breaking to find out minutes later
That the lifeless body was her only son
Oh yes! Her only son
A tear trickled down her eyes
She wiped it out with nostalgia
As she reached for her cup of coffee
