The Human Race!

The tricky Wordsmith

Treads about everywhere.

They tread about in every space

Making appearances with their

Actions and writings,

Speeches and preaching,

Signally to the people that they meant well

With so much clout that

Beclouds the real issues.

Beware! Beware! Beware!

Of the reputable Politicians

Who spin their tales during campaigns

With startling lies muddled with arrogance

Prominent mortals with selfish interest

They fail to deliver the manifestos content

Mendacious propaganda indeed

Beware! Beware! Beware!

Of the Charismatic on the pulpit

The Holy man dangling the Holy Book

They hide at the back of the creed

With the cloak of innocence

Quoting the creed for selfish gains

Mendicant monks of our generation

Beware! Beware! Beware!

Of the person next to you

The human race is an entire fallacy

Faces are masked and shielded

And beneath the façade of love and laughter

Lie a dark pain of betrayed hope

Betrayed trust and betrayed love

Perhaps, beneath this façade

Lie the crazy thought and urge for violence

To extort, maim and to kill

To kidnap, bomb and to terrorize

Beware! Beware! Beware!

Of the person staring at you

Whose second name is corruption

Dishonesty, greed, liar, deceit, pride

Jealousy, envy, hatred

Hmmn, radiating uprightness

And oozing holiness

At sunrise

But withdraws the innocent mien

At sunset

The same report

The same offence

The same guilt

Show me an exception

I weep for this generation

I weep for this human race

I weep for this rotten legacy

Except we retrace the misguided steps

And be the change we clamour for

And be the ones to make the difference

And embrace a world of truth

A world of peace and love

Love for ourselves

Love for the human race

We live on gun powder

Which will explode

With a loud bang

  1. I am glad you enjoyed reading the post. You have just added more words @ hypocrisy, lying, stealing, wickedness to the list of vices on my write-up. That was very kind of you to read and comment. Your views have so enriched this piece. Do come back again with your insightful comments and views. I really appreciate it. Thank you so very much. 🙂

    1. Haha! Thanks for the kind compliment. 🙂 Well, my heart is not so heavy in the real sense but I needed to detox my mind on the recent stories making waves in the tabloid. It’s so weird and pathetic how some people can be so gullible. And even so sad to read the pitfalls of *those in exalted offices* who claim to have the interest of a people at heart. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I always love to read feedbacks and yours have reminded me to deviate slightly and serve you, my esteemed readers more heartwarming vibes. Please come back soon for more cheery posts. Lol. Thank you very much. 🙂

  2. This is beyond meaningful and from a place one has to understand. I like to hope these days that things will change and if not (quite cliche) I’ll be the change I want to see. I’ll leave the legacy I wish someone would have left me to strive for.

    1. Thank you Cam. I hope everyone will imbibe the right attitude to change and live by example. The decadence in our society is so deep with no respite in sight. And to wish for change will be a futile hope if no one is willing to be the change they seek. It’s a collective responsibility if a visible difference must be made. Glad to have your voice here and I really appreciate your visit. Thank you. 🙂
